Build It, Love It

How Gratacon Approaches Construction Safety Differently

The Gratacon Team

From the beginning, we’ve believed that every person, project, customer, and community deserve to be left better than we found them. That’s only possible when safety comes first, every time.

For us, safety goes beyond rules and compliance. It’s about people. We want every workspace to be a place where our team and partners can show up, be safe, do meaningful work, and go home proud of what we built together.

This mindset ties directly to our ethos: Second-to-None is reflected in our guiding framework: Dream It. Build It. Love It. and is a throughline in our core values: Be a Good Steward. Elevate Others. Stay Solutions-Focused. Lead the Way. Foster Excellence.

Gratacon’s Safety Philosophy

The following executive statement is taken directly from Gratacon’s Environmental Health, Safety & Incident Prevention Plan. It reflects our leadership’s commitment to creating safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible jobsites—and to ensuring safety is planned, practiced, and protected at every level of our work.

From Our President & CEO

Gratacon’s management is committed to the elimination of worker injuries, occupational illnesses, and damage to equipment and property in all its operations; to the protection of the public whenever it comes in contact with Gratacon’s work, and to the prevention of pollution and environmental degradation.

Gratacon’s management actively participates in the investigation, follow-up and preventative measures enacted to prevent the re-occurrence of near-misses, recordable and lost-time worker incidents as well as all significant liability, property, and environmental events. Follow-up actions involving the President, and other relevant parties, would include post-incident conference calls to review facts, understand the root-cause and develop corrective procedures, policies and/or methods.

Company management and field supervision plan safety into each work task to eliminate preventable occupational injuries or illnesses. Although the ultimate success of Gratacon’s safety, occupational health, and environmental protection programs depend upon the full cooperation of each individual employee, management is responsible for seeing that applicable rules and procedures are established, implemented, and enforced, and that effective training programs are available and presented to the best advantage.

Safety, occupational health, environmental protection, and ethical practices must never be sacrificed for production. These four elements are integral parts of quality control, cost reduction and job efficiency. Each Supervisor must take personal responsibility for the performance demonstrated by the employees under his or her supervision as it relates to these four elements.

Gratacon has an outstanding safety record and is proud of its achievements in accident prevention. However, to maintain that safety record, every Gratacon employee must be involved, and do his or her part to create and maintain a safe and productive work environment.

The objective of every employee is the elimination of all preventable accidents and environmental incidents from our operations. The elimination of human suffering and family sacrifice due to workplace injuries and incidents is a worthwhile goal and one we all must strive to achieve. A good safety and health record indicate superior management, a superior work force and a commitment to high work standards. It also promotes repeat business and contributes to the continuing growth and success of the company.

Gratacon’s Executive and Project Management at every level are responsible for translating this Company statement into positive, productive actions in all organizational activities.

Our pledge is simple: we walk the talk of safety—because at the heart of every project are people. Every worker, every partner, every community member deserves to go home safe at the end of the day. We invite others to join us in making Second-to-None safety standards the norm across construction.
